About Norfolk Boccia
Norfolk Boccia was founded in 2016 by Roy McGee and his son Stevan. Starting with the Norwich Pioneer Club at the University of East Anglia, the organization has grown exponentially under Roy's dedicated leadership. Roy ran numerous clubs and training sessions across the county, and was a renowned referee with Boccia England & Special Olympics. His tireless efforts were recognized in 2017 when he was awarded "Volunteer of the Year" by Boccia England.
Unfortunately following a short illness Roy passed away in 2024. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed. But his legacy will live on through Norfolk Boccia.

Boccia has roots in ancient Greece and Egypt and is thought to be one of the first games played by mankind. The sport was originally designed for people with Cerebral Palsy but is now played by people with a wide range of disabilities. Nowadays over 50 countries play Boccia, making it the fastest growing disability sport in the world and in 1984 Boccia was introduced into the Paralympics.

Norwich Pioneers Boccia Club runs on a Monday evening at Norman Centre, Bignold Rd, Norwich NR3 2QZ from 6.15pm - 7.45pm. We are proud to be a part of the Boccia community. Our athletes and coaches are actively involved in volunteering, fundraising, and community events, and we are committed to making a positive impact in our city.
